Fox Vaccination Campaign Against Rabies

ANNOUNCEMENT
From the Mazowieckie Voivodeship Veterinary Officer regarding the protective vaccination campaign for wild foxes against rabies in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship for 2023. Pursuant to the regulation of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development dated 17th December 2013, concerning the protective vaccination of wild foxes against rabies (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland - Year 2022, Item 1737),

I ANNOUNCE
that from 9-20 September 2023, in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, protective vaccination of wild foxes will be carried out using the oral LYSVULPEN vaccine. Aerial drops and manual placements will cover forests, fields, meadows, excluding bodies of water, roads, and built-up areas. The vaccine is placed in bait in the form of a disc, brown-green in colour, with the smell of fish. Foxes take the vaccine that hasn't been touched by humans. The vaccine is only approved for vaccinating foxes. It is not effective against rabies in other animals. Any human contact with the vaccine should be reported to medical services. Instances of domestic and farm animals coming into contact with the vaccine should be promptly reported to a veterinarian. After placing the vaccine, dogs should be kept on a lead for 14 days, and cats should be kept indoors.
